Seller Listing Standards
HomeVersion
Version 3 — MVP (Tier 1 Sellers Only)
Capitalised terms have the meaning given in the Definitions & Interpretation document.
Purpose
This marketplace exists to create improved value from timber products that fall outside standard retail channels by enabling buyers to make informed decisions through accurate, conservative, and transparent disclosure.
Buyers rely entirely on the information provided to assess suitability and risk. The platform's success, and increased seller prices, depend on trust.
For this reason, the platform cannot tolerate misinformation or omission — whether deliberate or accidental.
Listings that do not meet these standards will not be published.
1. Eligible Products
Sellers may list timber products that meet all of the following: physically held by the seller (no third-party stock); surplus, downfall, overrun, or off-spec products; suitable for trade, joinery, furniture, stair, framing, construction, or similar uses; and capable of being reasonably assessed via description and photographs.
Structural use clarification — Timber that is commonly used in structural applications may be listed. However, sellers must not make claims of strength, performance, grading, or compliance of any kind.
Prohibited claims include (but are not limited to): F-ratings (e.g. F14, F17, F27); MGP grades (MGP10, MGP12, etc.); GL ratings (GL13, GL17, etc.); references to Australian Standards or certification; and statements implying certified load-bearing performance.
Permitted descriptions: intended or original grade (for context only), and explanation of why the product cannot be sold or used as that grade.
2. Mandatory Listing Information
Each listing must include the following information, completed accurately.
Product Details — Primary use case (e.g. stair, joinery, framing, cladding, furniture); species included in the package (if mixed, all species must be stated); actual dimensions (width × thickness); lengths and quantities (pieces or packs); intended grade of timber (e.g. "produced as MGP10", "produced as F17", "select-grade joinery"); handling method required for pickup (hand load / forklift / palletised); and pack dimensions and approximate weight (where applicable). The intended grade is descriptive only and must not be presented as a claim of performance or compliance.
Downfall Reason (Mandatory) — Sellers must explicitly state why the product cannot be sold through standard retail channels. One or more reasons must be selected, including where applicable: too short or too long; overrun quantity; cosmetic defect; profile mismatch; colour variation; specification change; non-stocked / non-standard item; client cancellation; fails intended specification or grade; or excess stock. Vague descriptions such as "minor issue", "seconds", or "not quite right" are not permitted.
3. Defect Disclosure Rules (Critical)
All defects, limitations, or variations must be disclosed conservatively and completely.
Individual Items — For single or clearly identifiable items: defects must be explicitly described; defect location must be identified (e.g. face A, face B, edge, end); and defects must be photographed clearly. Important rule: if a seller specifies a defect on one face, all other faces are implicitly represented as acceptable. Silence is considered representation.
Pack or Bulk Lots — For packs, bundles, or bulk lots with multiple boards, sellers must disclose: defect types that may be present; possible defect locations; and approximate frequency or distribution, described conservatively. Acceptable examples: "Chip-out and tear-out may be present on one or more faces in every board"; "Defects may occur on multiple boards within the pack"; "Some boards may be affected on more than one face".
Critical rule: For pack listings, sellers must assume the worst reasonable distribution of defects unless otherwise proven. Optimistic or selective disclosure is not acceptable.
4. Photo Requirements
All photos must be current, original, and show the actual product being sold.
Individual Items — Each listing must include: full item view; close-up of any defect or variation; end grain or edge with scale reference; and context showing size, weight, and handling.
Pack or Bulk Lots — Representative photos are permitted. Photos must show: the full pack or bundle; boards from different positions within the pack; and examples of all defect types present.
Stock photos are permitted only if: they are the seller's own photos of the same species and product type; they are clearly labelled as representative; and defect descriptions are conservative (e.g. "may be present on all faces"). Stock photos must not be used for finished or near-finished downfall components.
5. Tallies (Optional but Binding)
Sellers may attach a tally showing lengths and quantities.
If a tally is attached, it is considered binding and disputes will be assessed against it.
If no tally is attached, the listing must clearly state: "Sold as a pack — individual lengths not guaranteed."
6. Prohibited Language & Claims
Listings must not include: "Sold as is"; "No refunds"; "Buyer beware"; structural or strength class claims; compliance, certification, or rating references; or conditions that contradict platform policies.
Listings containing prohibited language will be rejected without revision.
7. Pickup & Handling Clarity
Each listing must clearly state: pickup location; pack dimensions; approximate weight; and handling requirements (e.g. forklift required).
Delivery availability and pricing are governed by the platform's freight integration.
8. Review, Rejection & Enforcement
All listings are reviewed prior to publication.
A listing may be approved, returned once for correction, or rejected.
Repeated failure to meet listing standards may result in listing restrictions, temporary suspension, or removal from the platform.
9. Seller Acknowledgement
By publishing a listing, the seller confirms that all information is accurate and complete, defects and limitations are fully disclosed, and the product matches the description provided.
Misrepresentation may result in refunds or returns at seller expense, penalties, or removal from the platform.
